Biblio was established in the 1990s. The owner believed that the old way of doing business is way better than the new commercial business strategies used today. Also, he believed that it’s not the mega corporations that help in increasing economic growth or employment. Small businesses keep something alive among people. They keep people a part of the community and ultimately makes people’s lives better is what the owner perceives about small businesses. He got this inspiration from his grandfather’s small business of clothes. Thus, was established Biblio by the owner and his wife because they believed in that type of community. Also, it seemed to them that used bookstores were one of the last bastions of the era of small business ventures. The book business grew and evolved as the internet grew. They initiated Biblio.com as a price evaluation engine for second handed and new books in the autumn of 2000. Later, this price comparison engine developed into SearchBiblio.com and has been famous for several years as the most efficient and fastest "metasearch" site for books. The company retired it in order to focus completely on biblio.com.
Remember that when one shops books on Biblio, one is purchasing from independent booksellers and not some large, faceless business venture. When one orders at Biblio, one is buying from small, independent bookstore, booksellers and assisting these important community and cultural bastions. Many of the company’s booksellers are members of professional trade associations which mean that they have agreed to do business in accordance with the professional set of ethics and standards. It also implies that they work together and share knowledge. Since the company’s establishment, they have acknowledged their uninterrupted obligation to positively affect the world around them with their business ventures. The foundation of the company is an EPIC bottom line. EPIC is an abbreviated form of Environment, Profit, Independence and Community. They represent their four main focus areas that are interrelated with their business practices and with one another. They are aware about environmental protection and also have profit motive. They have independent booksellers and also believe in the concept of community.
What makes Biblio unique?
Biblio was created for the love of books, and a wish to offer local bookstores global reach and not just as a profit based business venture. The company understands the happiness of discovering a literary treasure as they have shared in the quest. The company is dedicated and committed to help their customers find the book or bookseller they require. The staff members believe that a book that has been read, owned, and appreciated only adds to its overall value and enhances its history. The company’s customers aren’t seeking for just a normal product but a genuine experience that reminds them the feel and aroma of an old bookshop from an older time. The customers find this experience in Biblio’s vast book collection which is individually developed by their independent sellers. Biblio is proud to be part of an international community of book lovers. They are also committed to increase its growth.
