British Airways' History
British Airways can trace its history back to 1919, when Aircraft Transport and Travel Limited launched their first international schedule between London and Paris. British Airways was formed in 1974 with the dissolution of British Airways Overseas Corporation (BOAC) and British European Airways (BEA). British Airways and Air France started the first supersonic service between the United States and London in 1976 between London and Washington D.C.
