Dollar Shave Club's History
Two young men that met at a party, that shared a few ideas are now responsible for one of the most loved companies (especially by men) in the USA. The Dollar Shave Club isn’t a fancy executive club where men gather to shave together; rather than that it’s a cost-efficient, reliable and quick way for many American men to get rid of the itchy beard. The company was founded in July 2011 and with a lot more fundraising than own investment, it quickly started to grow. The first wave of popularity hit the founders Michael Dubin and Mark Levine after the release of a YouTube video explaining the idea of the Dollar Shave Club. In the first 48h they received about 12,000 orders for razors. Through the years they continued to add more products to their catalogue and improve their memberships. Nowadays they even have hair styling products and accessories.
Dollar Shave Club's Values
The founders and the rest of the team of Dollar Shave Club are mainly men. And being such they understand the frustration of their brother all over the USA when it comes to shaving, changing razors and finding the most suitable products for you. They believe that the memberships they offer can cover the needs of all the American men and at the same time to save them time and money. The whole process involves post shipping so the customers don’t have to think, remember and go to the shop to regularly buy new razors and other products. Depending on the membership the customer can get a budget razor or an executive one for more sensitive skin. The whole idea of the company is to take care and save time and money to all those men in a hurry so they can think of what’s more important.
What makes Dollar Shave Club unique?
What’s unique for Dollar Shave Club is not only their approach but the extra mile they’re willing to go for their customers. They run a blog that’s dedicated to personal care, beauty, fashion and lifestyle advices mainly intended for men. The company has many customers which are women but with their scent of fun they’re trying to teach men “how to be beautiful”. The constant promotions and fundraising they make are also meant to fight some common diseases like colon cancer. Dollar Shave Club believe that health and personal care must go hand by hand.
