Fire Mountain Gems' History
Fire Mountain Gems was founded in 1973 by Stuart and Chris Freedman and they are located in Grants Pass, Oregon. They have been a part of their customer’s jewelry making experiences and love the relationships they have built designers, artists, employees, suppliers and customers. They also enjoy meeting all of their customers, at their store, at trade shows and events. Fire Mountain Gems is proud to feature your own jewelry designs in their Gallery of Designs and love sharing all of you stories. With a love for gemstones and Southwestern turquoise and lapidary work, Fire Mountain Gems started in a garage at the back of Stuart’s home in the early 1970s in Studio City, California. When beading was not as popular as today, they started their first catalog, The Beadmaker’s Handbook. In 1986, Fire Mountain Gems moved to Cave Junction, Oregon and in 2000, they moved to their present location of Grants Pass, Oregon.
