Future Shop's History
Hassan Khosrowshahi, an Iranian businessman settled in Canada, started Future Shop in 1982 as a retail business with three stores opening in British Columbia. The company offers computers, audio and video items. After acquiring CompUSA and Computer City, it turned into the largest electronic product retailer in 1998. US-based Best Buy acquired the chain in 2001 and 65 stores have been converted into the new brand outlets in March 2015.
Future Shop's Values
Future Shop branding is still available in the Canadian market as on April 4, 2015 with most locations close to Best Buy outlets closed to prevent losses. Due adjustments are made to gift cards and warranties issued by the company. Visitors can purchase home appliances besides electronic products from newer outlets in the near future.
What makes Future Shop's unique?
Future Shop offers computer services and fulfils obligations under service warranty through its Geek Squad installation program. Company credit cards are valid at new outlets being opened. People have the option to buy at new stores comparable products earlier available only at select outlets. Reward Zone points are transferable to new purchases as well.
