Super 8's History
Super 8 Worldwide or also called Super 8 Motels is an international budget hotel chain. The company owns hotels in the United States, Canada and its newest properties are in Chines. Super 8 Motels is a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide. The history of Super 8 starts back in 1972. Ron Rivett started the business and after one year together with his friend Dennis Brown decided to create their new Super 8 motel corporation. The company was divided between Ron and Dennis. Each one of them was owner of 50% of the company. At that time the room rate was US$8.88, therefore the name of the company came. The first hotel of the chain was opened in 1974 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The hotel had 60 rooms and was located near a Holiday Inn. The company established and sold its first franchise in 1976. The hotel was established in Wyoming. During the next 4 years Super 8 managed to stretch from New York to Washington. At the moment he company has more than 2 300 hotels worldwide.
