In 1975, Amancio Ortega decided to open a retail clothing store in his home country of Spain. The original name of the store was Zorba after one of Amancio's favorite movies, Zorba the Greek. However, a shop by that name already existed in the local area and so he decided to change the name to Zara. Today, Zara has 3,000 locations worldwide and annual revenue of over 10.8 billion euros.
Zara believes strongly in taking care of its employees, improving each and every community in which its stores operate, and of course making sure customers are always satisfied by both the products and services. The way Zara puts it, "the customer is at the heart of our unique business model."
What makes Zara unique?
Zara is known for its edgy, streetwise, european clothing styles. It is oftentimes referred to as a high-quality H&M. While this may or may not be true, its style is truly all its own.
