ASOS is known for their stock of great name brands at affordable prices. ASOS also carries some great boutique clothing, but not everyone can afford the name brands ASOS carries. There’s no reason you can’t score ASOS must-haves, however. In fact, following these tips and tricks will make shopping at ASOS much easier on your wallet.
If you go to the ASOS page looking for deals, start in the outlet. Here you’ll find items up to 70% off, and the inventory is updated daily. The best part about this section is you’ll find designer brands at significantly slashed prices, including Levi’s, Diesel, and Marc by Marc Jacobs. You can shop by category or brand, and you can also shop the inventory that’s just been added to the outlet section. Once you click on a category, you can further refine your search by product type (i.e. beachwear, blazers, cardigans, etc.), size, price range, color, and brand.
Check the shipping chart to see how much you have to spend before you qualify for free shipping. You’ll also see the standard delivery times and the cost of shipping if your order doesn’t meet the free shipping qualification. However, you should stock up on items from the outlet section or other sales sections to qualify for free shipping, as the requirement is usually pretty low.
The “last chance to buy” section has some of the biggest savings on the ASOS page. Just like the outlet page, you can shop by product type, size, price range, brand, and even color. These are items that are almost out of stock; so searching by size might be your best bet. If you shop by brand or price range, you may have trouble finding items in your size, as all the items in this section are of limited stock. Some of the items in this section are under $10 – making these items a perfect option if you need to meet the free shipping requirement.
If you’re shopping from the States, simply use the U.S. version of ASOS so that the prices are in U.S. currency. If that doesn't work, there is a dropdown at the top right where you can change the currency to dollars.
Although ASOS doesn’t offer as many promo codes as some other online retailers, you can often find a few attractive ones. Be sure to check if the ASOS coupon code is applicable to sale items, because ASOS most often provides promo codes on regularly priced items when your order is over a certain amount. Also check to see if your promo code is applicable for use with the student discount.
ASOS doesn’t widely advertise its sweepstakes, but they definitely aren’t something you’ll want to miss out on. For example, ASOS held a sweepstakes last year called the “ASOS Internship Around the World” sweepstakes. The winner received flights to London, Shanghai, Sydney, and New York City, as well as train rides within these countries to various cities, hotel accommodations, a stipend, and an ASOS gift card. The total prize was worth over $25,000, and no purchase was necessary! Other sweepstakes prizes include ASOS e-vouchers, so do a quick search to find out what prizes you can score.
If you want more free stuff from ASOS, they also have a promotion where you get a free one-year Teen Vogue subscription with a purchase of $75 or more. Simply fill out the subscription form upon your qualifying purchase to receive your free subscription.
This function allows shoppers to “save” items for 60 days. This means that if you have your eye on something but can’t snag it right away, it will remain in your saved items until you’re ready to buy (for 60 days). The great part about this function is that it will show you if the item has reduced in price since you added it. You’ll also be alerted if the item becomes low in stock, or if the color and size you’ve added goes out of stock. Simply find the “save for later” button on the product page (located beneath the “add to bag” button). You can then keep tabs on your must-haves until they either go on sale or you find an ASOS promo code.
ASOS staffs a team of in-house stylists to help shoppers with their fashion questions and to give fashion advice – absolutely free. This personal stylist service is available from Monday to Friday from 9am until 7pm, and 11-5 on the weekends. You’ll get a one-on-one private style session with one of the in-house stylists. Also don’t forget to visit the stylist page for stylist videos and outfit ideas for both men and women.
The ASOS Premier membership is $29 per month, and gives the shopper unlimited two-day shipping (no minimum order value). This is a great option for shoppers who regularly purchase from ASOS. The unlimited free shipping is worth $12 per order, so simply calculate how many times you’ve purchased from ASOS in the past year to determine if you’d save with a Premier subscription.
If you live in London, ASOS has a special return service (called “My Returns”), which is a courier collection service that will actually pick up your package within one hour. This service is available in selected areas throughout the UK, so check the website to see if your area is covered. The service costs £2.50 – and you have the option of choosing the one-hour pick-up time or the following business day. My Returns service is available Mondays through Fridays from 9am to 5pm, excluding public holidays.
ASOS makes it easy for students to save by offering a 10% discount to all students, and all you need is a student email address! Fill out the form with your name, the college you attend, your major, what year you’re in, and a student email address. If you don’t have a student email address, contact customer care and send them a scanned copy of your student ID.
When you sign up for the student discount, be sure to mark the box for newsletters – that way you’ll receive additional promotions and exclusive offers.
