Ever wonder how Amazon hooks so many people? They are the masters of free - they provide you with a lot of free incentives, and once they've got you, they hope you’ll start buying more.

The Easiest Way To Search For Free Stuff On Amazon

This is a very simple tip. Just type “0.00” or “free” into the Amazon search engine, and you’ll see everything that’s free on Amazon. If you want to refine your search, just include what you want to search for, such as “books”, alongside the “0.00” or “free”.

Take Advantage Of Your Amazon Kindle Benefits

If you have an Amazon Kindle, you’re in luck - you get a lot of free perks. If you don’t have one, you can still take advantage of many Kindle-exclusive perks.

It wasn’t enough for Amazon to create their own tablets and ereaders - they had to also create their own appstore, similar to Apple’s App Store, and Google’s Play store. If you have an Android phone, you can side-load the Amazon Appstore by configuring your settings. Downloading the Amazon Appstore has its own advantages, including discounts and freebies on many types of apps. Amazon has a “Free App Of The Day” feature, where they’ll make premium apps available for free for 24 hours. Follow the Amazon Appstore on Facebook and Twitter for more updates and deals.

Install the Amazon Kindle app on any of your devices - from your phone to tablet to browser. The biggest perk of the Kindle app, is the ability to read lots of material for free.

You can get access to many books for free, including directly on Amazon’s site. If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber and own a Kindle, you’ll have access to Amazon.com’s lending library, which allows you to check out over 300,000 books for free, with no due dates. You can borrow one book per month.

There are several blogs that track Amazon’s free Kindle offerings. Here are five that do a great job of rounding them up:

Magazines and newspapers can be tried for free. Magazines come with a 30 day free trial. Newspapers come with a 14 day free trial. If your local library uses Overdrive  you can borrow books for free. The selection may be limited, and if someone else has checked out the book you want, you may have to wait for it to become available again.

There are a few sites that allow you to lend your own Kindle books and borrow from other Kindle owners, such as Booklending, ebookfling, and Lendle.

If you’ve ever gotten sick of reading a long article on the web, and wished that you could send the article to another, handier device to read, Amazon’s answered your wishes with the free Send to Kindle browser extension. Just install it on your browser, and click the button whenever you want to save an article for reading later.

You can follow Amazon Kindle on Facebook, Amazon Kindle on Twitter, Amazon Books on Facebook, and Amazon Books on Twitter for updates and deals.

Get Free Space On Amazon Cloud Drive & Amazon Cloud Player

It’s only natural for Amazon to expand into the cloud business. The space is getting quite competitive, with offerings from Google Drive, Dropbox, Just Cloud, and more. Amazon offers a lot in their cloud services for free, but you’ll have to be careful to read the fine print. For example, Amazon Cloud Drive is separate from the Amazon Cloud Player. Files uploaded to one will not be copied over to the other. Use Amazon Cloud Drive for your photos and documents, and use your Amazon Cloud Player for your music. You can get started with 5 GB of free storage on Amazon Cloud Drive.

  • Install the Cloud Drive app on your Windows and Mac machines, and the Cloud Drive Photos app on your Android device, via the Google Play store, or the Amazon App store.
  • Install Amazon Cloud Player on any of your devices. It will allow you to import up to 250 of your own songs for free, and any MP3s and albums (vinyl and CDs) you purchased directly for Amazon are automatically uploaded for free (even the ones you’ve bought in the past back to 1998), and don’t count towards your storage.
  • If you want to know which albums qualify for automatic upload, check the AutoRip page.
  • You can set your MP3 purchases to automatically download to your device, enable 1-Click for Amazon MP3 purchases, and authorize up to 10 devices to be used with your Amazon Cloud Player account. You can use a wide range of devices, including the Roku, iOS devices, and Android devices. If you deauthorize a device, you won’t be able to reauthorize it for 30 days.
  • To ensure you have adequate space, make sure deleted files are really deleted. On Amazon Cloud Player, the deleted files get moved to a Deleted Items folder. Go there, and click on Empty All Deleted Items to permanently remove the files from your Amazon Cloud Player.
  • To keep up on Amazon music deals, follow the Amazon MP3 Facebook page or follow the Amazon MP3 Twitter page for exclusive promo codes and sales. You can also subscribe to a weekly email.
  • Every month, Amazon’s editors pick 100 albums to price at $5 each.
  • They also started a new feature called Artists On The Rise, where Amazon’s editors pick 12 songs from upcoming artists to make available for free. The albums from the new artists are usually offered at a discount as well.

Watch Free Video With Amazon Instant Video

If you're thinking about ditching Netflix, Amazon Instant Video is a worthy replacement. You can rent or buy movies and/or TV shows for a cheap price, and often Amazon picks things to showcase for free. If you're an Amazon Prime subscriber, you get unlimited instant streaming of thousands of videos. If you're not an Amazon Prime subscriber, you can still try it for free for 30 days.
