While we take great pride in the Couponing 101 content we provide, the fact is there are a lot of outstanding couponing resources online.

In an effort to help introduce you to some of those resources, we’ve launched a “Couponing Interview Series” which include Q&As with the founders behind a few of the best couponing blogs we’ve come across.

The following Q&A is with Kathy from Kathysavings.com. Kathy’s site has a nice blend of content that mixes freebies and couponing information with product reviews and giveaways. There are also craft and recipe sections.

Without further ado, here is the complete Q&A:

Q: How long have you been couponing?

A: I have been using coupons for years. I don’t think I really actually got in to the heavy couponing until about three years ago.

Q: Why did you start couponing?

A: I started couponing so that I could save money. I’ve always been set on saving money as much as I can. First it was saving a little bit here and there, and then I started really getting in to couponing so I could start getting free products by using coupons or even making money by using coupons.

Q: How long have you had your blog?

A: I have had my blog for about three years.

Q: What prompted you to get started with blogging?

A: I started by being a fan of a lot of other bloggers. This really got me interested in making my own blog. The fact that I love saving money and helping others save, too, was a big reason as to why I started blogging. I wanted to help others save as well as let them know about certain products before they went out and bought them themselves.

Q: What do you like most about couponing?

A: I love that you can save money. I’m all about saving money. Any way I can save a bit of money is always great for me. It’s fun to see how much you can save in one shopping trip too.

Q: Where is your favorite place to shop with coupons?

A: I always shop at Walmart with my coupons. It’s one of the stores I normally shop at and they have never given me a hard time when I use my coupons there.

Q: What advice would you give to couponing newbies?

A: Don’t stress over it. Couponing takes time to learn. Also don’t use coupons for something you most likely won’t use. You don’t want to save money on everything just because you have a coupon for it. Use coupons for those things you really need.

Q: What is the biggest challenge couponers face?

A: I would have to say the time it takes to keep all coupons organized and make sure you know what coupons you’re going to use. It can be very time consuming when you’re planning a huge couponing trip. You want to make sure you have all the prices right so that you get the right total at the end of your shopping trip.

Q: Where do you see the future of couponing going?

A: I honestly believe that they’re going to cut down on coupons. I know a lot of stores only take a certain amount of coupons already and some won’t take them at all. I don’t think some stores are going to want to deal with coupons anymore. Of course, I hope I’m wrong, but these are just my thoughts.

Q: Have any final thoughts?

A: Have fun with couponing and don’t stress yourself out. It can take some time to learn to coupon big if that’s what you’re leaning towards. Take your time when planning out a couponing trip too.
