T-Mobile has been on a roll lately. Compared to major players AT&T and Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile is an underdog in the competitive mobile network space. It suffers from a less-than-sterling service reputation, and limited geographical coverage. New-ish CEO John Legere isn't afraid, however, and has been busy making pointed criticisms of his competitors, and unveiling many consumer-friendly, competitively priced new products and plans.

Upgrade Your Phone Whenever You Want With T-Mobile's JUMP!

T-Mobile, most recently, introduce JUMP! (Just Upgrade My Phone!) which allows consumers to upgrade their phone twice in one year for only $10 a month. When you want to upgrade, you just trade in your current phone for the new one. Included in the JUMP! product is basic insurance protection against loss, theft, or accidental damage. There's no contract to sign; if you change your mind on participating in the program the next month, you can cancel or the plan will terminate automatically when you miss the next payment.

Get Unlimited 4G High Speed Data For $50 A Month With The Simple Choice Plan

A few months ago, T-Mobile made a splash when they announced their Simple Choice plan, where consumers could pay $50 a month for unlimited talk and text, as well as unlimited nationwide 4G high speed data. The one small catch is that while you can use as much data as you want, if you go over the allotted limit, you won't be stopped from consuming data, but your connection will drop from 4G to 2G. This week, T-Mobile introduced Simple Choice Plan for families, which lets families add up to four lines for $10 each. (The second line is $30.) Compared to offerings from Verizon Wireless and AT&T, this deal can't be beat.

Take Your Unlocked Phone To T-Mobile To Save Up To $49.99 A Month

You don't have to have a T-Mobile branded phone to take advantage of their deals. If you have a phone you like, and are contemplating switching, you are entitled to unlock your phone under certain preconditions. For AT&T, you must be an existing customer, or a former customer who can provide the phone number or account number for the device. For current customers, their account must have been active for at least sixty days, and they must have completed their contract. They are allowed to unlock up to five devices annually. If the customer has a prepaid account, the account must have been active for at least six months. Former customers are allowed to unlock five devices per account. Verizon Wireless will unlock iPhone 4S devices for customers who have had active accounts for six months. (For information on unlocking other devices, contact Verizon Wireless directly.)

Once your phone is unlocked, all you have to do is order the right SIM card and plan for yourself. You won't have to pay for a new phone, and you'll get significant savings compared to plans at Verizon Wireless and AT&T.

Check To See If Your Company Qualifies For a 15% T-Mobile Discount

Many companies and corporations provide discounts to their employees on T-Mobile phones and plans. To check whether your company is eligible, enter your email address on the T-Mobile Advantage program page.  A crowd-sourced list of T-Mobile corporate discounts is available here; be aware that some of the information is outdated, and may not be current. Usually, qualified employees will get around 15% in savings on their monthly bills.

Trade In Your Old Phone When You Get A New T-Mobile Phone For Credit

When you purchase a new T-Mobile phone, you can trade in your old phone for credit. To determine whether your device is eligible, you can get a quick estimate on what you can trade in your phone for. As an example, I could trade in my own Samsung Galaxy Note, and get $205 in credit back.

Claim Your T-Mobile Rebate, Promo Code, Or Coupon

T-Mobile's products occasionally come with rebate deals, discounts, or promo codes. If you feel like you missed out, you can check to see if you qualify for a rebate or discount. Just enter your phone's information to check eligibility. If the site doesn't recognize your deal, and you still believe you should be getting a discount, contact a T-Mobile agent or retailer directly to resolve the issue.

Read The Fine Print Before You Make A Purchase On A $0 Item

You can view all of T-Mobile's deals on new phones and packages here, and also check out refurbished bargains. When you spot a deal you like, though, be careful to read the fine print so that you understand what you're really paying for. The price that's listed is the down payment, not the true cost of the product. For example, below, a Samsung Galaxy Tab is retailing for $449.99. The down payment is $89.99 if you choose to pay monthly, and $15 a month after that. You'll get 24 months interest-free, so it's a great bargain if you know you can pay the bills on time. The other option is to pay for the entire product at once for $449.99. You can find it cheaper elsewhere, but it will generally require a service contract with purchase.

Refer Friends To Get Up To $250 A Year In T-Mobile Promotional Credits

Join T-Mobile's Refer-A-Friend program to get up to $250 a year in T-Mobile promotional credits. Referrers must join the program in order to be eligible for the credits. To qualify for a promotional credit, the referee must open a new T-Mobile account, and sign up for a new service plan within 90 days of the referral. Referees must also sign up for the referral program in order for either referee or referrer to receive the promotional credit. Referrers will earn $25 in T-mobile promotional credits per referee, and can earn up to $250 in credits a year. The T-Mobile promotional credits do expire, so take note of the expiration dates, and use them up before they become invalid.

Follow T-Mobile On Facebook & Twitter For Special Offers, Freebies, & Deals

If you follow T-Mobile on social media, you can take advantage of personalized freebies, deals, and special offers. T-Mobile recently promoted a personalized, digitally autographed photo from Andrew McCutchen, centerfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates on their Twitter page.

On Facebook, T-Mobile recently offered the Samsung GS4 for $99.99 down with no annual service contract.

We can't wait for what T-Mobile CEO John Legere has to show us next. He said in a recent interview that there would be another announcement in the fall.
