Summer is coming to a close, which means school is almost back in session. Sororities will begin rush, frat boys will start hosting tailgates, and your football team will start winning (fingers crossed, right?). More importantly, you will come back from summer with the intention of having your BEST year yet.
Despite the fact college fashion inhabits its own world of broke and laziness, there is no better way to start your year than with the top trends of the season.
Here are some back to school trends for fall that won’t cost you nearly as much as your tuition, or require any more effort than putting ramen in the microwave.

Midi Skirts and Crop Top Sets
Heading to a meeting with a professor? Look no further. A classy midi skirt with a button-down will keep you looking very professional while being on trend.
You can opt for a circle midi skirt or go for a long pencil skirt, which doubles as a great going-out outfit when paired with a crop top. Dress it up well enough and you might even be able to wear it to a semi-formal a la Kim Kardashian on the red carpet!

Boyfriend Jeans
For an easy go-to jean this semester, choose boyfriend jeans. They are the ‘it jean’ of the moment and you can throw them on when rolling out of bed after a night long study sesh any day of the week. Roll them up at the bottom and throw on some chucks and a white tank during the day and then heels for your local college bar at night.

Graphic Print Sweater
Every college girl needs her one cozy sweater for those late nights in the library. It has to be a sweater you genuinely like wearing, because chances are as the semester goes on you will end up living in it.
If you want to splurge, Markus Lupfer offers great selections, otherwise just pop over to Forever 21 for options that say thing like ‘J’aime Manger,’ which, if you are not taking french this semester, means ‘I love to eat.’ Spot on.

Fur Jackets
Fall 2015 will be seeing an influx of the fur coat trend. Stay in the loop and on top of your game with this style. A boxy faux fur coat that is long sleeve and hits at the waist will be a great go-to for going-out outerwear. It will make you look super high fashion without even trying, so it is the perfect luxe buy for a girls night out.

Platforms
Platform shoes are a revival trend from the 70’s and 90’s. You can either go hippie and disco from the 70’s or grunge and bulky from the 90’s. Either way they will elevate your style (see what we did there?).
Try to find a platform shoe that has a chunky heel and is not too steep, like a flatform. Choose one in a pastel or neutral color so it will be sure to work for outfits in both of these decades. Wear these to class, sorority dinners, and even out in the evening. They really are the most versatile heels for fall.

70’s Boho Trends
Are you a boho girl by nature? Don’t want summer to end? This trend is for you. A couple items you can incorporate are mixed print dresses, bell bottoms and flares, bell sleeved tops, off the shoulder tops, and boho shift dresses.
The best way to approach this trend is to keep it inspired by the 70’s, but not literal (as in you don’t need to go full hippie). This style will be great for sunny days tailgating and casual lunches between classes with friends.

90’s Soft Grunge Trends
If you are more of a fall person and the weather change is something you are looking forward to, 90’s trends, and particularly the soft grunge look, may be for you. This is a more street-style look for those with an edgy vibe. Great for those who are too cool for school. You will want to wear chokers, a backpack, sneakers, flannels, overalls, plaid, and leather, like a moto jacket.
A classic soft grunge look is a tattoo choker, a band tee, a moto jacket, a flannel tied around your waist, acid wash jeans, and Doc Martens. No one will mess with your back to school ‘tude.
