Can you believe Valentine’s Day is this weekend? It’s one of my favorite holidays because you just get to show the people you love just how much you love them. Most people don’t say it or show it enough, but this is a day to pause and do just that.
But that doesn’t mean you have to go out and spend a ton of money on dinner at a restaurant. We have five cheap date night ideas that you will love.
Five Cheap Date Night Ideas
At-Home Restaurant
If you’re not a gourmet chef, then you sound just like me. But there are a few meals that even I’ve perfected – thanks to the Crock Pot. All you do is put everything in the Crock Pot, turn it on, and come back to a delicious meal eight hours later. You can check Pinterest for a ton of recipes but my favorite is this Crock Pot potato cheddar soup. I make it once a week because it’s so simple. If you have more skills in the kitchen, you and your honey can cook together. It’s really sweet and romantic – plus good teamwork.
Driveway Drive In
This is one of my favorite cheap date night ideas: Make a drive-in in your driveway. Wait until Valentine’s Day night and pack blankets, popcorn, sodas, and snack into the back of your car. Or, if you don’t have an SUV, just lay it out on the driveway itself (be sure to bring pillows!). Open your laptop and stream your favorite movie. Pick something romantic, something scary … whatever you’re in the mood for.
Be Active
With Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday, you don’t have to wait until the evening to enjoy it. Spend the day outdoors: walking on the beach, hiking at a botanical garden, bike riding at the nature park. Any activity that gets your heart racing is perfect for a holiday surrounded by hearts. Plus, being active is so much more fun when you’re with someone else.
Create something
If you’ve read either of my blogs, you know that I do a lot of crafting. Everything from Hot Chocolate Spoons to updating an old bookcase. My husband and I did the second one together. We set up newspapers on our porch and painted together. It was so much fun to create something together – and spend a ton of time together just doing that. Every time I have a craft to do, my husband wants to be involved and it’s the sweetest thing.
Have A Coffee Party
I didn’t drink coffee until my husband and I were living together … and now it’s just such a nice ritual we have. We say we’re having a “coffee party” and we brew some in the French press (it really makes a better cup of coffee than a Keurig or traditional coffee machine). Brew some coffee, find a delicious snack, and have a coffee party. Do it without the TV on and with your phones on airplane mode. No interruptions. Just you and him. And coffee.
