Japanese retailer UNIQLO and New York based menswear designer Michael Bastian collaborated on a line of polo shirts that debuted in-stores and online yesterday. Bastian, who is known for creating preppy designs, produced over 50 pieces for the collection. The slim-cut polo shirts come in stripes, solids, and printed patterns including dragonflies, cat figurines, and shiba inu dogs.
At $19.90 these polos are a steal and a far cry from Bastian’s typical prices for items at his own label. Michael has a simple design philosophy and took the slim fit design a step further for this collaboration cutting it down by another centimeter making the shirts about 20 inches from armpit to armpit. Bastian explains to The New York Times, “My obsession is trying to make them a little sexier, a little less nerdy.” Considered a summer essential, these polos can be worn from the beach to the bar and can sharpen up any look!
