Coupons have come a long way since they were invented over 125 years ago, and it’s now possible to use your smartphone, computer, and even a smartwatch to redeem digital coupons.

Despite their growing availability, however, most consumers still prefer print-based coupons to digital ones when it comes to shopping for consumer-packaged goods like food, beverages and household products.

According to a new study by the Association of Coupon Professionals, 71% of consumers prefer old-fashioned paper coupons to their digital counterparts, reaffirming their popularity with shoppers who are more comfortable clipping and downloading printable coupons than applying a promo code online.

The survey also highlights the disparity between digital and printable coupon redemption, showing that traditional insert coupons were eight times more likely to be redeemed than digital coupons. Traditional coupons were also shown to be more beneficial for retailers as consumers who primarily shopped with paper coupons spent 8% more than those who shopped with digital coupons.

And if you think clipping coupons is something only people in their 40s and older do, think again. The same study showed that 63% of millenials use traditional paper coupons for their everyday purchases, and that number is likely to rise as millenials continue to enter their 30s.

At BluePromoCode.com we embrace printable coupons with the same attention to quality and curation as we do for digital coupons, and we encourage you to check back often to find the best deals for common household items.
