Jaclyn Anne has long been a huge bargain hunter, but grew tired of her husband’s apathy about her passion. Enter dorkydeals.com, Jaclyn’s response to her spouse constantly referring to her as a dork whenever she excitedly detailed her latest deal seeking exploits to him.

Dorkydeals.com features a variety of content related to clothing sales and coupons, but she also blends in giveaways and discounts she’s found on other items like beauty care.

Here is the complete Q&A:

Q: How long have you been couponing?

A: I started couponing in 2012, so it has been about 3 years now.

Q: Why did you start couponing?

A: I began couponing when I moved out of my mother’s home and became a homeowner myself. It was a real reality check. Once I went grocery shopping the first time and saw how much groceries cost I knew I had to find a way to spend less money on groceries.

Q: How long have you had your blog?

A: I started Dorky’s Deals in March of 2013.

Q: What prompted you to get started with blogging?

A: Whenever I would find or snag a great deal I would get super excited and tell my boyfriend (now husband) about it — and he was never impressed. He would say, “you’re a dork!” I figured… fine, if he doesn’t want to hear about all the great deals I can’t help but get psyched over, I will just tell someone else, someone who will maybe even use these deals themselves … that’s when Dorky’s Deals was born.

Q: What do you like most about couponing?

A: I do not like to “waste” money, so I like knowing that I am getting the best deal possible on the items that I purchase.

Q: Where is your favorite place to shop with coupons?

A: ShopRite, Walmart, Target & RiteAid.

Q: What advice would you give to couponing newbies?

A: My best advice for couponing newbies is that the internet is your friend. Take advantage of all the couponing sites out there for how to guides, tips, and deal breakdowns.

Q: What is the biggest challenge couponers face?

A: Time. It can be a real struggle to clip and organize your coupons and get your shopping list ready each week. I always find myself wishing that there were more hours in the day.

Q: Where do you see the future of couponing going?

A: I think that there will be less and less paper coupons and more and more electronic coupons.

Q: Have any final thoughts?

A: Organization is key. Keep that coupon binder organized and that’s half the battle :)
