Walmart prides itself as being the store that has the lowest prices on everything you could possibly need for your household. What if you could bring that price lower? With our insider tips, you can. Here are the four secrets of shopping at Walmart that will change your life:

- Grab a Walmart credit card if you are a frequent Walmart shopper. You can get a Walmart store card, which can be used only in Walmart stores, or you can get a Walmart Discover card, which you can use at any store that accepts Discover. With the credit card, you can earn up to 1% cash back on all of your purchases, save $0.05 per gallon at participating Walmart gas stations, and get free monthly FICO scores when you sign up for online electronic statements.
- Don’t ever go to Walmart without your coupons. In addition to using coupons from bluepromocode, don’t forget to print out coupons from Walmart directly for additional savings on groceries and household goods. Walmart’s coupon policy explicitly states that “If coupon value exceeds the price of the item, the excess may be given to the customer as cash or applied toward the basket purchase”, which means that if the coupon you use gives you the item for free plus an extra five cents, you can use that five cents towards the rest of your purchase. Although Walmart will not stack coupons, it will take coupons from manufacturers, competitors, and competitors’ checkout coupons (which are known as catalinas), with certain caveats. That means that if you bought something from Target, and got a coupon after checkout, you can take that coupon back to Walmart and apply it to your purchase as long as it conforms to Walmart’s coupon rules. You can also use coupons on sale and clearance items, so check the aisles after holiday rushes for great bargains.
- Bring in a local competitor’s ad to your Walmart. Walmart has a price match guarantee. This means that if you find an item at a competitor’s store for a lower price, Walmart will match that price. There are exceptions to the ad matching policy - Walmart will not match Internet pricing, going out of business sales, percentage off sales, or items that require a separate purchase to get the ad price. Although the policy states that you don’t have to bring in the specific ad to get the price match, it’s still better to bring in proof, since Walmart’s customer service can be pretty inconsistent.
- Shop online for higher-end items, and for special deals. While Walmart stores will have varying inventory from store to store, Walmart.com will have just about everything you need, plus they often carry higher-end brands that may not be available in the physical stores. If you are looking for true bargains, go to Walmart Specials, where you can get direct links to Walmart’s Value of the Day, Clearance items, Rollbacks, Special Buys, and Value Bundles. You can get free shipping on purchases of $50 or more; if you cannot make the limit, you can opt for free site to store shipping, and pick up your purchases from a Walmart local to you.
