The market for organic food has exploded in recent years, but that growth has yet to result in lower prices. Organic food is so expensive, in fact, that many consumers aren’t willing to give it a try, even if it is much healthier.

Whole Foods has become one of the most successful grocery stores of all time based on its organic focus, but the prices are so high that the store has faced significant backlash over the past few months and is derisively called “Whole Paycheck”.

Given the narrative surrounding how costly organic food is, you’d think there would be no way to use coupons and save money on it. In reality, that couldn’t be further from the case. Most people are unaware of how many ways there are to get discounts on organic foods. Dealspotr is here to end that knowledge gap.

Check below for five strategies to save money while buying organic food.

Use Online Printables From Organic Coupon Sites

Most bargain shoppers are familiar with Coupons.com, but are they familiar with Mambo Sprouts or Earth Fare? If not, they should be. Each of those sites have a vast selection of coupons available for organic products and other natural food items. The best part is that they are also very easy to navigate and use, so not much effort is required.

Use Cash Back Apps

One of the best things about cash back apps is that you can combine them with coupons to generate even more savings. Unlike traditional stacking (combining multiple coupons, sometimes on top of sales, to get the biggest discount), which is banned or heavily regulated by many stores, cash back apps generally always allow you to get rewards regardless of whether you redeemed a coupon when you bought the product.

The best of the cash back app bunch or organic food is Berrycart, which focuses exclusively on that category. Other top apps like ibotta also work well, however, as do heavily curated cash back apps such as Shopmium that concentrate on high-end brands. Take a look at Dealspotr’s list of the top five cash back apps to learn more about how they work.

Take Advantage of Store Coupons

Whole Foods and other organic markets like it have earned their reputations for being expensive. They have also done a very poor job, whether intentional or not, of hiding the fact that many of them offer store coupons. Whole Foods for example has an entire section of its web site dedicated to printable coupons. It even features in-store tearpads with more coupons for organic products, which are relatively rare to find at many other supermarkets.

Likewise, other leading organic markets such as Natural Grocers also have coupons available, some of which are very high value, and also feature in-store tearpads. Another important fact to remember is that more and more traditional grocery stores are stocking up on more organic coupons and providing coupons for some of those items as well. By using these coupons you can quickly offset some of the higher prices and get organic items for the same as regularly-priced non-organic items.

Join a Warehouse Membership Club

Costco and Sam’s Club are the leading warehouse membership clubs in the United States but there are various other examples throughout the country if you don’t have one of those available where you live. While Costco has a slight edge on Sam’s Club when it comes to organic food selection, both have ample stock available and generally provide far better pricing since they sell in bulk. You do have to pay an annual membership fee for each, but that cost is quickly erased due to the significant savings you’ll get from buying organic foods.

Scan Daily Deal Sites Regularly

Whether it be Groupon, Living Social or one of the many other daily deal sites, they often have great offers for organic foods. It might come in the form of a voucher for a local organic market or it could come in the form of an organic product that is being sold at a heavy discount, but there is almost always some way to utilize those sites for the purpose of getting organic food at a lower price.
